10 places to go before you…well, die.

Oh ok so it’s unlikely that you (or I) will ever visit all of these destinations, but it’s still really nice to look at them and marvel at their breathtaking beauty and hope that some day, we might see at least a few.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Plitvice Lake Croatia

In recent years, Croatia has become a tourism hot spot. Not surprising considering it boasts some of the most breathtasking natural beauty the world has to offer. The National Park is open all year round and consists of sixteen lakes, coneccted by a series of awesome (in it’s literal sense) waterfalls. Though don’t stray off the path, the Park is also home to bears, wolves and boars.

The Wave, Arizona

the wave, arizonia

Although this looks like delectable caramal and vanilla ice cream swirled with toffee sauce, it’s actually a sandstone rock formation located in the United States of America near the Arizona and Utah border that has been eroded since the Jurassic age (yes it actually existed! Spielberg wasn’t lying).

The Lake District

The Lake District

There’s no place like home, so let’s not forget our very own areas of natural beauty like the miles of mountains and valleys in the Lake District. You can pitch a tent here right on the lake, for 2 people, for around £40 so there really is no excuse.

Moroccan Souks

Speaking from my time spent there, the experience of getting lost in the never ending streets of the Moroccan souks is both exhilarating and a little bit daunting. Try to avoid Marrakesh, where the souks are tourist saturated and less authentic and lose yourself in the enchanting alleys and winding streets of Essaouira or Fez.

The Barrier Reef, via scuba diving

Barrier Reef

Not everything of outstanding natural beauty is on land! The Barrier Reef is the worlds largest coral reef system, built by billions of tiny organisms and supporting a wild diversity of wildlife.

Bora Bora Island

Bora Bora Island

Bora Bora Island in French Polynesia is just too good to be true, but the twist is, it is true! Peaceful, warm, with crystal blue waters and delicious food, this really is the dream holiday destination.

Serengeti, Kenya

Each year over 1,200,000 wilder-beast and over 800,000 zebra migrate up to 1000 kilometres around the Serengeti eco-system, driven by the ever-changing pattern of food and water supplies. Visitors can take a walking tour of the expense of plains and experience nature at it’s most prolific.

Machu Picchu Peru

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu feels like a very mysterical place, a pre Columbian 15th century Inca site it is situated on the rather breathtaking mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the most fascinating World Heritage sites. The wall can be seen from space and runs for approximately 8,852km. If you are going to walk this one, I suggest wearing sensible shoes.
